The Best Mascaras of 2016 According to Our Team
Mascara is a must-have in your makeup bag. In fact, most women would say it's the one makeup product they can't live without. Here are some of the Mixed Makeup staff's picks for the best mascara!
Anna Fryxell, Mixed Makeup Producer
There are two main things I look for in a mascara: it doesn't smudge or transfer and it thickens my lashes. It Cosmetics Hello Lashes Mascara ($24) does both and more! I love that it really separates my lashes and it has a ball tip to reach the inner corners easily. I've even had several people ask if I had fake lashes on while wearing mascara.
Danielle Directo-Meston, Mixed Makeup Editorial Director
I’ve been a longtime devotee to Too Faced Lash Injection ($21), that is until Honest Beauty Truly Lush Mascara + Lash Primer ($22) came along. Not to sound like every new mom ever, but my makeup routine got super minimalist after having a baby – who has time to apply a different type of primer to every part of their face? (Not me.) Besides a good foundation and concealer, the one step I never skip now is lash primer, and this 2-in-1 mascara and primer saves me from getting raccoon eyes while sparing space in my makeup bag. Though this product doesn’t give me the same lashes-on-'roids look as Too Faced’s mascara, I love that I still get longer, fuller-looking lashes that are more in line with my less-is-more approach to beauty these days.

I have loved Estée Lauder Sumptuous Infinite Mascara ($28) for years now! It’s a constant staple in my makeup bag and I have yet to find a different mascara that makes my lashes look long and thick at the same time. Plus, it doesn’t flake and lasts the entire day — but really, the entire day. The formula is made with fibers that add to your lashes, but don’t look clumpy. My only note is to use an oil-based makeup remover at night otherwise you’ll have a hard time getting it off (I do a double cleanse with oil or balm, then soap up, so it’s fine for me).
