We Tried Urban Decay’s NEW Low-Fi Lip Mousse: Here’s Our Review
We love to test out new lipstick at Mixed Makeup, so when we heard that Urban Decay added a new lipstick formula to their collection, we naturally had to get our hands on it.
Urban Decay’s Low-Fi Lip Mousse is described as, “a weightless, buildable, waterproof lip color with a velvety-soft finish that feels like you’re wearing nothing.” Instead of a traditional tube, the formula comes in a small, circular compact and looks similar to the brand’s eyeshadow singles (a classic!) But unlike the mess of other powder lipsticks, the Low-Fi Lip Mousse has a plush matte texture with no loose pigment. That’s great news, especially since we love to apply lipstick on-the-go.
Also, unlike some other matte or long-lasting lipsticks, the lip mousse doesn’t dry out your lips or feel sticky to apply. Since the formula is bouncy, but firm, you can easily use your finger to sweep the color across your lips. Or if you’d rather use an applicator, the product comes with a pop-out storage slot that holds a tiny eyeshadow sponge brush.
Here’s the best part: The Low-Fi Lip Mousse is completely versatile. Whether you prefer a natural wash of color or a bold matte lip, it builds to your desired pigment with each coat. It can also be layered with your balm or gloss for a different finish. We were surprised to find the product offered more than just transfer-resistant coverage: The longer we wore the lip mousse, the better it looked. Especially when we used it to create one of our favorite trends in Korean beauty: The gradient (or lollipop) lip for a flushed “barely-there” effect.
The lip mousse comes in 8 shades: AMPLIFY (deep red), NOISE (berry pink), BOOM (plum-purple with red micro-shimmer), WAVELENGTH (medium pink-purple), ECHO (mauve nude pink), and HALO (warm baby pink), FADE (warm medium nude), and FREQUENCY (bright orange).
