The Best Body Lotions for Smooth Skin in 2021
There’s nothing like stepping out of the shower and slathering on a luxurious body lotion. As I’ve gotten older, my love for body lotions has grown. Similar to skincare for your face, we all have different preferences and needs with our body skincare products. So, I’ve rounded up the best body lotions shop now.
Best Overall: Kopari Coconut Body Milk
Not enough people talk about the Kopari Coconut Body Milk ($30). I am obsessed with this stuff. It’s lightweight, hydrating, and smells like a vacation (aka coconut. It’s not a subtle coconut scent either, so if you’re not a fan of coconut, I would skip this one). The hydration is long-lasting and the lotion doesn’t leave a sticky residue or uncomfortable feeling on the skin. Of all the body lotions I tried in 2020, this one tops my list.
Best Fragrance Free: Nécessaire The Body Lotion
Nécessaire knows their body products, and The Body Lotion ($25) is no exception. It’s fragrance-free, but doesn’t have a weird “fragrance-free” scent like some products have. It’s lightweight, fast-absorbing, and very soft on the skin. It’s also formulated with antioxidants, omega-6, omega-9, and vitamins A, B3, C and E. My only criticism is the bottle. I personally don’t love squeeze bottles for body lotion. I find if my hands are all lotioned up and I go back for another squeeze, the bottle flies right out of my hand.
Best Drugstore: Lubriderm Daily Moisture
There’s nothing like classic Lubriderm. This lotion always makes me think of my childhood and my mom. It’s non-greasy, fast-absorbing, and hydrates the skin all day long. It’s great for normal to dry skin types and is also fragrance free. My go-to is Daily Moisture ($9), but for extra dry skin, try Lubriderm Advanced Therapy Lotion ($8).
Best High End: Byredo Gypsy Water Body Lotion
Byredo is a brand that screams bougie. Everything in their Gypsy Water line has gained a cult following, so of course I had to include the Gypsy Water Body Lotion ($65). It’s definitely pricey at $65 a bottle, especially if you’re like me and go through body lotions quickly. But if you want to feel fancy and lather yourself up in a sexy-yet-feminine scent, add this to your cart.
Best for Dry Skin: Buttah Whipped Body Butter
If you love shea butter, this one’s for you. The Buttah Whipped Body Butter ($29) is super rich and moisturizing body butter is made with Virgin Organic Unrefined Shea Butter from Africa and is also packed with vitamins A, B, and E. It’s the hydrating, nourishing, and soothing butter that’s perfect for keeping dry skin under control.
Best for Eczema: La Roche-Posay Lipikar Soothing Relief Eczema Cream
This National Eczema Association-accepted cream is packed with soothing ingredients like niacinamide and La Roche Posay’s classic Prebiotic Thermal Water to help reduce existing signs of eczema and fight future flare-ups. The La Roche-Posay Lipikar Soothing Relief Eczema Cream ($15) is thick, so really focus it on the areas you want to treat.
Best CBD: Lord Jones High CBD Formula Body Lotion
I was a CBD skincare skeptic for a while, but I’ve come around. There’s just something to it, especially the anti-inflammatory properties. Lord Jones has built a brand around CBD and their High CBD Formula Body Lotion ($40) is beautiful. It’s lightweight, creamy, and smells masculine (in a good way). If you’re nervous about CBD, don’t be. CBD is not psycho-active, so you won’t get high like you would with THC. My only negative with this lotion is that I wish the bottle was bigger! This probably won’t last you too long if you use it all over your body every single day.
Best Balm: SpaRitual Body Salve
I always have a body balm or salve on hand. While my body isn’t particularly dry, my feet are another story. I love the SpaRitual Body Salve ($36)—specifically, the Geranium Sandalwood scent—because it’s deeply hydrating and moisturizing. In addition to lathering it up on my feet, I like to massage it anywhere I’m sore, achy, or just needs some extra attention. It’s incredibly soothing. Don’t forget to massage the product in your hands before application to release the scent—the aromatherapy is real with this one.
Best Body Serum: REN AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum
I’m always surprised by how many people don’t use a body serum—will it be a 2021 skincare trend?! Just like our faces, our bodies can use serious skincare ingredients. This AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum from REN ($42) feels like a lightweight lotion that helps fight dryness, dullness, and. texture. The AHA in here is lactic acid, but it also has ingredients like probiotic extract and xylitol to promote smoother texture and help with hydration.
