Foundation Should Look Like a Second Skin (Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Long Wear Foundation Review)

Foundation Should Look Like a Second Skin (Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Long Wear Foundation Review)

My makeup look has changed a lot these past few months. I started self-quarantine feeling sad, maybe even in shock that the year took a sudden nosedive, and unmotivated to look my best. But, a couple of weeks into it, I realized I had to change my attitude.

I stopped gorging on baked goods, started to go for walks, and more importantly, I decided to get ready each morning. Pre-pandemic, I would spend close to an hour (sometimes two!) getting ready. It was a combination of doing my skincare routine, styling my hair, and wearing a full face of makeup.

These days, I have taken a lot of it down to the basics. My skincare routine changes often so it can still get elaborate, but my overall look is pared down. I wear my hair natural and wavy, and I have my makeup look down to a science:

  • I wear foundation or a tinted moisturizer

  • Sometimes bronzer and blush

  • Shape my brows

  • Throw on mascara

  • Put on lipstick or balm

I constantly say good skincare habits lead to nicer-looking makeup, but the foundation you choose matters too. It should look like a second skin. It should enhance your features and give you a glow without looking greasy. And it should last throughout the day. Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Long Wear Foundation ($47) does all of that, which is why I’m excited to partner with them on this post.

Lancôme Teint Idole Foundation is a full coverage foundation available at Sephora, but feels lightweight and gives you a matte finish that doesn’t feel powdery or dry. I chose the shade “215 Buff N”, but it comes in 50 different shades that are transfer and humidity resistant, and it’s supposed to last for 24 hours. (But please don’t do that though.) I recommend a good double cleanse in the evening because you shouldn’t wear makeup that long, but I can confirm it lasts as long as you need it to last.

My favorite way to apply this foundation is to warm it up in my fingers before I smooth it onto my face. I then use a damp beautyblender ($20) to buff it into my skin for a blended, more natural finish.

Also, Lancôme Teint Idole Foundation happens to have a little sunscreen. It’s SPF 15, which means it gives you a little extra protection, but it also gives a little glow. If you haven’t noticed that with sunscreen, it’s the key to a subtle glass skin look. If it’s too high, you can get flashback in pictures and in light, but at a lower factor like 15, it just looks healthy. That said, if you plan on going outside with this foundation on, you’ll still need to wear a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin.

You can see it in my pictures. I have my typical makeup look on and it’s all about my skin! But really, it’s about my foundation. I don’t feel like I need much else on a regular basis. This is just enough to make me feel good without feeling like I tried too hard to just go from my bedroom to my home office.

If you’re feeling unmotivated, I highly recommend playing around with some makeup. Get your everyday look down and I promise it will make you feel good to look in the mirror and feel like a better version of yourself. It has helped me get into a self-quarantine groove and keeps me much more positive. I hope it does the same for you!
