Kylie Skin Review: What to Try and What to Skip
If you haven’t already heard, Kylie Jenner released a skincare line, Kylie Skin, and some of the products were met with backlash on social media. Susan Yara shared her first impression of Kylie’s skincare routine video where she used Kylie Skin products. Here’s what you need to know about each products in the collection.
Foaming Face Wash ($24)
Foaming cleansers can be drying since they contain sulfates. This product does contain surfactants like Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate and Cocamidopropyl Betaine, but these particular ingredients don’t raise many red flags in the skincare community. It also contains hydrating ingredients like glycerin and sodium hyaluronate.
Walnut Face Scrub ($22)
This is the most controversial product in the line and has received a lot of criticism online and from experts. The walnut shards in the product can potentially create micro tears in the skin that can cause damage down the line. We say to skip it.
Vanilla Milk Toner ($22)
This toner is alcohol-free – just what we like to see. It also contains antioxidants and hydrating ingredients. It does contain synthetic fragrance though, which we like to avoid because it’s one of the main causes of skin irritation.
Vitamin C Serum ($28)
This serum contains a stable and fat-soluble form of vitamin C, so it’s easier to penetrate into the skin. It also contains hydrating ingredients like glycerin.
Face Moisturizer ($24)
The main ingredient in this moisturizer is shea butter which is a great moisturizer. It’s paired with other hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin. Bonus points because it’s fragrance free!
Eye Cream ($20)
This product contains jojoba seed oil and has great consistency for an eye cream to moisturize the area. This would be a great product to use before applying makeup, but at Mixed Makeup, we like to avoid eye cream at night.
The entire line is $125 and overall, Susan’s picks are the Vitamin C Serum, Face Moisturizer, and Eye Cream.
