Wavy Hairstyle: All the Products and Tips You Need to Perfect the Look
Wavy hair is a casual and cute style for the summer months and is so easy to achieve. Follow these steps to get the look.
STEP ONE
Shampoo and condition your hair (add a mask too to give your hair extra TLC). We’ve been into Prose lately. You can get a custom made shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask that addresses your specific hair needs.
STEP TWO
Wrap your hair in a microfiber towel. Our favorite is by Aquis ($30), but any microfiber towel will do the trick as well.
STEP THREE
Apply a blowdry cream from mid-lengths through the ends, avoiding your roots. We love the Perfect Smooth Blowout Lotion by NatureLab ($12) to protect hair from heat and color fade.
STEP FOUR
Let your hair air dry for a bit, depending on the thickness of your hair. You can also use your blowdryer to rough dry it until it’s about 90 percent dry.
STEP FIVE
Blowdry your hair the rest of the way using a round brush to smooth it out.
STEP SIX
Curl your hair with a 1” or 1.5” barrel curling iron in small sections. Start the curl about two inches away from your scalp and curl away from your face. To give your hair a more “natural” look, direct some curls toward your face.
STEP SEVEN
Let the curls cool down completely before you touch them. You want them to set so they last longer.
STEP EIGHT
Use a texturizing hair spray, like this Dry Texturizing Spray by Frederic Fekkai ($29), along your roots, crown, and lightly on the curls.
STEP NINE
Rake your fingers through the curls to lightly break them up.
STEP TEN
Take a small pump of a smoothing oil, like NatureLab Perfect Smooth Hair Oil ($16), and apply it through the ends of your curls. Make sure to avoid your roots.
STEP ELEVEN
Apply a texturizing paste like the Dry Shampoo Texturizing Paste by Frederic Fekkai ($26) to tame any stray baby hairs. And you’re good to go!
