4 Tinted Moisturizers with SPF You Should Try

4 Tinted Moisturizers with SPF You Should Try

This past year, I made it my personal mission to find the best tinted moisturizer with SPF. I searched the internet high and low to find which ones everyone seems to be talking about and loving the most. Once I narrowed my list, I went out and got the four that intrigued me the most.

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue SPF 30 ($32)

I tried this product years ago when it first came out and, honestly, I didn’t love it. But I kept seeing it pop up in all those aforementioned internet searches, so I thought I’d give it another try. I’m extremely glad I did because it turned out to be one of my favorites.

I think I didn’t love it the first time around because I was into heavier coverage foundations at the time and this one is sheer-to-medium coverage. I’d say it teeters more towards the sheer coverage in my experience. Also, since the first time I tried it, I’ve adopted a great skincare routine that’s helped clear acne and even out my skin texture. And treatments like Halo Laser have helped reduce skin redness. So I’ve been preferring sheerer coverage lately. This preference is also why Armani Luminous Silk Foundation has been my favorite lately.

Other reasons why I love this product: it contains squalane and mineral electrolytes to really hydrate the skin and the sun protection comes from mineral-based titanium dioxide. Also, there’s 20 shades to choose from.

Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream ($36)

I’ve had my eye on this one for a while and after seeing several people mention it in Mixed Makeup’s private Facebook group, I knew I had to try it. While it might not be a “moisturizer” by name, it does contain sodium hyaluronate (the soduim salt of hyaluronic acid) to help maintain skin hydration. Additionally, it contains antioxidants like Irish moss and red seaweed extract to provide protection from free radicals. Antioxidants and sunscreen go together like peanut butter and jelly, so this is a very welcomed ingredient.

This product is also a mineral-based sunscreen that uses a combination of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to give you SPF 35 protection. This product provides sheer-medium coverage, but I’d say it provided the most coverage of all the products mentioned in this story. I also liked that it gave my skin a luminescent glow to it.

The one drawback for this product is there’s only 4 shades available ranging from fair to medium skin tones.

Ilia Sheer Vivid Moisturizer SPF 20 ($42)

This one had great reviews across the internet, so I was excited to try it. It says “sheer” right in the product name and that’s exactly the coverage it provides. I found that it did a great job calming down any redness in my skin and it felt really nice going on.

This one also has a semi-matte formula that left my skin looking a little dewy, but not greasy. It feels very thick coming out of the tube, but it blends really nicely. There are six shades to choose from ranging from fair to dark.

It’s also very hydrating thanks to aloe vera and sodium hyaluronate. It also contains white tea and rosemary extract that act ass the antioxidants. The sun protection comes from non-nano zinc oxide, another mineral-based sunscreen. And if it’s important to you, this product is also vegan, cruelty-free, and 98 percent natural.

However, if I could change one thing about this product it would be the SPF level. Right now, it’s SPF 20, but dermatologists recommend at least SPF 30. So you’d still have to wear an additional SPF 30 sunscreen under it to make sure you’re getting the right amount of protection.

Beautycounter Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer ($45)

They weren’t exaggerating when they decided to call this “dew skin” because that’s exactly what you get – incredibly dewy, glowy skin. This product provides very sheer coverage, so it’ll tone down some redness, but you’ll still need a concealer to hide any blemishes or other imperfections. I’d say this gives you a “your skin, but better” look.

It also contains skin brightening ingredients like black currant, peony flower root extract, and vitamin C as well as sodium hyaluronate for firmer, hydrated skin. The sun protection is also mineral based due to the zinc oxide. And just like with Ilia, this one only provides SPF 20 protection, so you’ll still need an additional sunscreen to get to that SPF 30 minimum.

What’s your favorite tinted moisturizer? I’m always on the hunt for a great one!
