The Best Waterproof Mascaras That Won't Smudge
Since the beginning of summer, we've been asked multiple times for our waterproof mascara recommendations. We get it; you don't want to look like Lauren Conrad, circa The Hills, at the next pool party you attend.
But as we all know, it doesn't always take a heat wave to create a "raccoon-eye" disaster. Waterproof mascara is useful in a yoga class, or if you randomly need a cry break throughout the day (it's a form of cleansing. #selfcare)
Oh, and that thing about waterproof mascara being unhealthy for lashes? Like any product, only if you don't remove it properly. Thankfully, waterproof formulas have become easier to remove, even with a gentle makeup remover. There's nothing better than a high-end formula at a drugstore price. This L'Oreal mascara coats and lifts lashes with a creamy formula that doesn't budge. Whether you prefer natural length, or something more dramatic, the buildable formula does the work of both.
BOBBI BROWN NO SMUDGE MASCARA ($40)
It might be pricey, but this mascara is worth the investment. That's because it can be layered over ANY mascara to act as a water shield (or raincoat) that keeps the formula in place. That's right; there's no need to compromise your non-waterproof staple. Although once you see how great it does solo, you might be down to switch anyway.
Tarte Lifted Sweat-proof Mascara ($23)
Not only will this sweat-proof mascara survive a dip in the pool, it includes nourishing ingredients like Amazonian clay and Vitamin C to keep your lashes damage-free. You'll love this mascara if you prefer a more natural brown formula, rather than jet-black.
Clinique High Impact Waterproof Mascara ($24)
Waterproof or not—if you have sensitive eyes, you should always stick to a gentle formula. This mascara from Clinique is just that...and some. The brush separates lashes for even amount of thickness and length.
