Makeup Tutorial: An Adorable Pikachu Beauty Look You Can Do Yourself
Pokemon Go! was a huge hit this past summer, so it's definitely going to be a popular Halloween costume this year. That's why we asked pro makeup artist Nikki La Rose to show us how to create a Halloween makeup look inspired by Pokemon's adorable star, Pikachu.
Check out the complete step-by-step Pikachu makeup tutorial below, and let us know if there are any other Halloween makeup guides you'd like to see!
Step 1: Prep + Prime
Before you get started on the fun stuff, apply your base makeup, beginning with your foundation and concealer. Next, contour and highlight your face, then set everything with powder. Finally, fill in your brows.
For the eyes, La Rose took inspiration from Pikachu's signature bright yellow "skin" and lightning bolt-like tail.
Begin by priming your eyelid (La Rose used MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Layin' Low), then apply a neutral warm eyeshadow that complements your skin tone.
For this look's colors, we used Make Up For Ever Flash Color Palette.
Next, apply yellow all over the eyelid; you can also use a Halloween face paint kit for eye eyelid color. Then use MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Gorgeous Gold to set the yellow and apply to the inner corner of the eye.
Next, carefully apply black eyeliner over your lid. You can use black liquid liner, too.
For the "tail"-liner, draw a zig-zag shape using a black eyeliner pencil or liquid liner. Keep your hand steady!
Continue by filling in your "tail"-liner.
Next, apply mascara and false lashes.
For the lips, use the same yellow color used on the eyelid as lipstick. Once your lips are all filled in, add a pop of shimmer using MAC's Gorgeous Gold eye shadow.
For cheeks, use red from the same Make Up For Ever Flash Color Palette or a face paint kit. You can also use red lipstick!
Start by drawing a circle on each cheek, then carefully fill it in.
While you let your cheeks dry, apply MAC Gorgeous Gold to the inner corners of the eyes and over the lips for an extra pop.
Return to the eyes and apply black liner to the lower lid and smudge it out.
Almost done! Once all of your makeup is dry, put on your pikachu ears and tail and you're ready to go!
