Can Castor Oil Make Your Eyebrows Grow?
My obsession with eyebrows started long before Cara Delevigne made it cool again. When I was a toddler, a little head first fall left me with stitches in my right eyebrow. The stitches turned into a scar that left me with a lack of eyebrow hairs in that area. As a result, I began using all sorts of products early in high school to finally get matching eyebrows. I tried everything from brown mascara to brown eyeliner until I came across one of my all-time favorite brow products, Anastasia Brow Wiz ($21). Recently, however, I’ve feel stuck in the same routine and want a more permanent solution to my problem. I was doing some online research when I stumbled across the idea of using castor oil for hair growth and thought I would give it a try.
Castor oil is supposedly ideal for hair growth because it has a high ricinoleic acid ratio which is said to increase circulation and balance pH levels on your scalp. It's also rich in vitamin E, minerals, proteins, and Omega 6 and 9 fatty acids along with being anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. All of this together creates an ideal situation for hair to grow.
While most my research involved success stories for hair growth on people's scalps, I figured it might be worth it to give it a try on my sparse eyebrow. Some people experienced three to five times the normal rate of hair growth while using it. So if it worked on someone’s head, why shouldn’t it work on my eyebrow?
After trying castor oil on my eyebrow almost every night for a month, I noticed that my existing hairs appeared to be longer, but the area with scar tissue stayed the same. Most people I found in my research had experienced more results by this time, but I've decided to keep trying it in hopes I'll get the results I'm looking for.
