Is this the Best Liquid Eyeliner?
I took a trip to Ulta the other day with the goal of getting colorful liquid eyeliners to play with. As I was perusing the aisles, I came across the first liquid eyeliner I ever tried: Almay I-Color Liquid Eyeliner ($8). I decided to buy it again for the sake of nostalgia and now I wonder why I ever stopped using it.
In a way, my eyeliner experience is kind of like dating. You can't always stick to the first eyeliner you ever "dated," you have to see what else is out there. I try a lot of different eyeliners because of the nature of my job, so I guess I just forgot about this one after a while. But after trying it again, I really wish I had kept it in my makeup bag as a backup to all the not-so-great eyeliners I've "dated" over the years.
This particular eyeliner and I first started dating in high school. It was what I learned to draw my first winged eyeliner look with. I remember all the mornings I would try, try, and try again before I finally got the routine down. It's the perfect product to learn with because it has a pointy felt tip applicator that gives you more control than liners with those tiny brushes do. You can draw on lines as thick or as thin as you want and you can get that precise point that's so necessary to a good wing.
The color goes on super opaque, unlike those pen-type eyeliners that tend to "ghost" you and look greyish. (Get my struggles with dating reference?) Plus, it really lasts for hours. Trust me, if an eyeliner can last on my oily eyelids, then it can last on everyone. It actually reminds me a lot of Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero Smudge Liquid Eyeliner ($26), which is another one of my favorite eyeliners I've dated. Almay's version is more budget friendly thought.
The other great thing about this line of eyeliners is that they have different colors meant to compliment your specific eye color. Because you need to be compatible to be in a relationship right? I'm a bit of a rebel though because I should use the Brown Topaz color to go along with my blue eyes, but I like to use the Black Pearl color because I like my eyeliner dark and mysterious.
All those years apart really make me appreciate this eyeliner more this time around and it's sure to be a lasting relationship going forward. That's not to say I won't still play the field, but I'll know I have a sure bet waiting for me at home.
