The Best Lipstick Ever? See the Lorac Alter Ego Collection Here to Decide
I've always adored the look of bold lip colors on other people, but whenever I try it out, I feel like it comes right off in a matter of minutes. I've even tried long-lasting lipsticks that my friends in the beauty industry swear by but it either comes right off or it leaves my lips looking really dry and gross. I thought I was destined to forever be a tinted lip balm user, but that was until I came across LORAC's new Alter Ego Lipstick Collection Gift Set ($35) at a recent event.
A makeup artist put the super on-trend marsala colored shade called "CEO" on me at the event. I liked the color, and as the night went on, it was still there. Even after a few bites to eat and a few sips of champagne.
I went home, I kind of brushed it off and just thought my lips were having a good night. But what made me go back in to try them out again was the dark purple color called "Free Spirit". It reminds me of a similar color in the new MAC Cosmetics and Nasty Gal collection that I was obsessed with when I tried it on in the store, but wasn't brave enough to purchase. So one Sunday morning, I swiped in on just before I headed out to meet friends for brunch and it was still there afterwards. Yay!
I've worn all five shades in the collection since then--Duchess (nude pink), Seductress (berry pink), Vixen (blue-based hot pink), CEO (marsala/mauve) and Free Spirit (deep purple). They stay on for hours every time I wear them. Probably because they're highly pigmented with an opaque matte finish. I've always heard that matte lip colors tend to stay on the best, and this lipstick is proof. It goes on smooth and has a creamy texture that almost feels like it adheres to your lips (well, because it basically does...) But it's not just lasting color that you get with it because it also contains antioxidants like acai berry, pomegranate, grape seed extract and vitamins C and E. So it'll leave your lips in good shape.
I tried them all on for you in the video below. Let me know what you think!
