Juicing to Better Skin: Citizen's of Beauty's Favorite Juice Recipe

juicing-beautiful-skin

Juicing for better skin is just one of the reasons why I have dived into the culture of cold-pressed juice. This year I am creating a healthier me, and one of the ways I am doing that is by treating my body well and giving it max nutrients. I know some will say juicing is just another trend, but it’s a genius way to add the vitamins and minerals to your body that you wouldn’t typically pack into your daily diet. Plus, a variety of fruits and veggies carry flavonoids and anthocyanins, which can help fight against free-radicals and help heal the body at the same time; this is good news for a skin care nut like me.

As a beauty-obsessed blogger, it’s a no-brainer that I am going to invest in my skin. But investing in skin doesn’t mean that it stops with really good skin care; it’s true that what you put into your body will most definitely affect the overall health of your skin. That’s why juicing can be an incredible tool to get your skin to optimal health, along with using the correct skincare for your skin.

Which Ingredients Should I Juice for Better Skin?

You need to juice fruits and veggies that have skin-saving nutrients in order to get optimal results. Check out these suggestions that are perfect for juicing to better skin.

Kale: Kale is a powerhouse leafy green that should be in everyone’s diet. It’s packed with Vitamins A, C, anti-K, B6, B2, iron, potassium, omega-3 fatty acids phosphorus, protein, niacin, fiber, and folate. Anti-oxidants Vitamin A and C help to keep your cells regenerating, Potassium cleanses the liver, and omega-3 fatty acids help with inflammation. (Good for anti-aging, acne)

Carrots: Carrots have two powerful antioxidants: Vitamin A and Vitamin C. Antioxidants block harmful free radicals from accelerating the aging process, which ultimately leaves you with younger looking skin. In addition, Vitamin C helps your body produce more collagen, keeping those fine lines and wrinkles a little more at bay. Lastly, Carrots have a generous amount of potassium, which helps your liver filter out toxins in the body and keep acne away.

Beets: If you want glowing skin, the benefits of Beets and Beet Root will be your best friend. Beets are rich in Betaine, which helps to cleanse the liver and rid your body of toxins, and leaves your skin glowing. Plus, you get the anti-aging benefits of Vitamin A and C that fight free radicals that break down the skin, leaving fine lines and wrinkles. Other vitamins and minerals in Beets are Vitamin B6, Vitamin K, Vitamin A, Calcium, Folate, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Riboflavin, and Thiamin.

Watercress: Watercress is another powerful anti-aging vegetable that has high levels of Vitamin K in it. It also has Vitamin C (72% of the daily value), and Vitamin A (62% of the daily value); both are anti-oxidants that help with your skin connective tissue.

Lemons: Lemons are a great acne fighter because they help cleanse the liver and keep toxins from creeping out in the way of a zit. They also have citric acid, Vitamin C, and Vitamin B.

Spinach: Spinach has mass amounts of flavonoids, which is like an anti-oxidant that protects the body from free radicals. It’s also rich in Vitamin K, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B2, magnesium, Folate, iron, calcium, potassium, and Vitamin B6. With the potassium, you also get some liver cleansing as well.

Tomatoes: Tomatoes are a strong source of antioxidants, Vitamin C and A. They also have high amounts of potassium, which helps to cleanse the liver and free your body and skin from toxins.

Apple: Apples are a good-tasting way to get a massive dose of free radical fighting Vitamin C and phytonutrients. It’s also an excellent source of Phosphorus and Potassium for liver cleansing and digestion improvement.

Other fantastic fruits and veggies to juice are: ginger, cucumber, strawberries, raspberries, oranges and mangos.

Here is one of my go-to recipes for gorgeous skin that I concocted at home. Just a note, this drink does have a lot of earthy flavors, but when you get used to it, it’s great.
